Clearly. I told her that he killed Embry and Hawk and she didn’t even care.

It just happened the once. It lasted for a few hours. And now it's like it never happened.

I was with Koby when it happened. Hawk didn't see until after. Well, he didn't see, there was nothing TO see, but he helped ke take the bandages off to reveal nothing under them.

It happens again for everyone else. Roughly once a month. I doubt I'd be the exception.

Not a strict one, no. Sometimes it's triggered by something, specifically.

It isn't that. I've had a glass with dinner since then, and it didn't happen.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, from what I can gather from others going through the same thing. When it happens again, I'll let you know if there's anything in common with the first time.

I'll try to. But the pain itself was real. I just won't know until I get there.

All pain is in your brain, if you want to get technical about it.

Unless it was happening on a different plane. Somewhere parallel where you're given the stigmata. But, I think it's about torturing you. Maybe for dying. They do call it a "consequence."

A third version of myself, and I'm feeling his pain? Do you deal with parallel universes a lot?

Yeah. No one's effects have been good, as far as I know. This isn't supposed to happen. Dying and then coming back, I mean. Maybe something in our souls, or bodies, or whatever you believe in, rejects it. And so we don't come back the same.

Once, that I've had experience with. It was called the Other Side.

You're right. Maybe this universe isn't used to the dead coming back.
